Christmas has always been one of my favorite times of the year. Most of our Christmas’s have been spent overseas working with numerous helicopter companies, as we always volunteered to work that shift so others could be home with their families and celebrate the holiday. There’s something special about unpacking all my forgotten decorations, untangling lights, and transforming our home into a holiday wonderland. Every room has its own little Christmas tree, each with its own personality and charm. Walking from room to room feels like discovering a new piece of Christmas magic around every corner.

Of course, no Christmas at our house would be complete without Dad putting up our aviation spin on the season. Every year he seems to outdo himself, and this year was no exception. The roof became his runway masterpiece, complete with new additions that had everyone talking. A lighted windsock stood proudly among the decorations, while glowing red runway lights lined the display, making it look as if Santa himself had clearance to land Runway 3-21. For a family that loves aviation, it was the perfect blend of Christmas spirit and flying passion.

One of the highlights of the season was gathering with family and friends for a holiday train ride in Cottonwood, Arizona. The train was beautifully decorated, filled with festive music, laughter, and plenty of holiday cheer. Watching the lights twinkle along the route while spending time with people we love reminded us what the season is truly about.

Between decorating the trees, admiring Dad’s updated aviation-themed display, and making memories on the Christmas train, and making our own gingerbread house, this holiday season was filled with everything that matters most—family, friendship, traditions, and a little extra magic. These are the moments that become treasured memories and make Christmas such a special time of year.

As another holiday season comes and goes, I’m reminded that it’s not just the decorations or the lights that make Christmas memorable. It’s the people we share it with, the traditions we continue, and the joy of creating new memories together year after year.

A beautiful home to showcase!!! Loved seeing all your beautiful decorations again including the trip to Cottonwood and of course the runway on top of your house!!! And no story is complete without the javelina raid!! Keep the stories coming. They are so fun!!
